Salvador Pérez is one of the long-time favorites of Kansas City Royals fans, and a leader in the clubhouse, with his positive attitude and infectious sense of humor. He is known for the frequent postgame “Salvy Splash” Gatorade showers he gives teammates during their post-game TV interviews. He is considered one of the top catchers in Major League Baseball.

Born in Venezuela, Salvy was signed by the Royals when he was 16 years old. He started playing in the franchise’s minor league system in 2007, and debuted with the major league club in 2011. His list of accomplishments is impressive, as he has earned five Gold Glove awards, been named to the MLB All-Star team seven times, and was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 World Series. In 2020, he was credited the American League Comeback Player of the Year. He has also become one of the most feared power hitters in the game, having hit more than 40 home runs in the 2021 season.

This original oil painting is one in a series of portraits of some of Kansas City’s favorite contemporary sports figures completed in a 12” x 12” format.
